This course explores the shared rhythmic foundations of house dance and the New Orleans Second Line tradition. Students will develop skills in groove, footwork, improvisation, and musicality while studying movement practices rooted in the Social Aid and Pleasure Club parade culture of New Orleans. Through technique exercises and improvisational exploration, dancers will strengthen coordination, stamina, and dynamic performance quality. The course centers Afro-diasporic dance traditions that celebrate rhythm.
